Organic ʻAwa Root (Kava)
Organic and Biodynamic. Smooth and potent! Freshly frozen ‘awa root pulp from Molokai. A favored native Hawaiian drink.
Pu‘u O Hoku specializes in Hawaiian varietals, which have been found to have particularly high levels of the active compound kavalactone, and this product has been praised by connoisseurs throughout the islands as the most premium ‘awa available. Pu‘u O Hoku Ranch offers ‘awa in multiple varieties: Hiwa, Spotted Hiwa, Mo'i, Mo’oula, Hanakapi’ai, Opihika’o, Panaewa, Mahakea, Nene, Papa'ele'ele, and Isa. Orders will vary depending on what is available at that time.
Preparation Instructions: Put ‘awa in a fine mesh nylon bag and place in a bowl with lukewarm water (use about 1.5 gallons of water to 1 pound pulp, or to taste). Knead the ‘awa through the bag. When done, twist the bag well for full extraction.

The farm at Puʻu O Hoku produces dried apple bananas, fresh frozen Hawaiian ʻawa root, raw honey, and a wide variety of other USDA-certified organic and Demeter-certified biodynamic fresh fruits and vegetables. They raise grass-fed and finished, USDA-certified organic beef and free-range chickens.
