These tasty keiki Portabella mushrooms have a light flavor and crispy texture. They not only make your dishes taste and present better, but they are organic and local!
We are the only portabella mushroom farm in Hawai‘i. By using organic waste material and a high-tech pasteurization and growing process developed with the help of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, our farm has successfully produced high quality mushrooms with better taste, texture and a longer shelf life than Mainland competitors. Not only do they taste amazing, they even LOOK better than imports. The fact that we are USDA Certified Organic and a known local brand will add value to your menu!
We are strong believers in creating a self-sustaining local food system for Hawai‘i, and substituting imports is one concrete way to make this vision a reality. Small Kine Farm supports local agriculture, the farm-to-table cuisine movement, and educating consumers and growers on the long-term value of sustainable, organic farming practices that protect our ‘aina and our community health.
How does a green-recycling company give rise to an organic mushroom farm? The organic material from our O‘ahu Community Recycling (OCR) operation makes for fine compost, which happens to be perfect for growing mushrooms! When the owner of OCR, Fung Yang, realized that there was potential to mimic nature and create something useful with the organic green waste he was collecting from private homes and businesses around the island, Small Kine Farm was born.
