At their 115-acre family farm in Maui's central valley, Maiden Hawaiʻi Naturals sustainably farm sunflowers year-round using no pesticides, no herbicides, and no GMO crops. Their signature Maui Sunflower oil and Hawaiʻi Macadamia nut oil are made fresh using locally grown ingredients, including nuts from Hawaiʻi Island and sunflowers that they sustainably farm on Maui. All of the farm equipment runs on locally produced 100% biodiesel. Although not yet certified organic, they follow organic farming and production practices. And, because it is important to respect Hawaiian culture and care for these islands, their farm team integrates the Hawaiian moon calendar into their farming operations–the team evaluates this calendar when planning their fields, aiming to plant on one of the optimum days while avoiding the few "no plant" days.
