Efrain and Justine started a small pop-up business on Oʻahu, featuring Efrain's mother's Gwangju-style kimchi and Kothai sauce recipes.  We tasted their products at the Kaka'ako farmer's market and were delighted by the savory and spicy balance of flavors.  We hope you enjoy Umma's recipes as much as we do!

UMMA'S

UMMA’S was founded in the summer of 2022 after co-owners Efrain and Justine took a trip to visit Efrain’s parents on the continent. Efrain’s Umma (Korean for Mom) prepared the foods that he grew up eating and he was reminded how special the flavors are. He asked her why she never considered starting her own small business to share the flavors with others, but she felt apprehensive about the idea. Knowing how diverse Hawaii is, she encouraged Efrain and Justine to return home with her Kimchi and Kothai recipes and start a small pop-up business, thus UMMA’S was born. UMMA’S is now proud to share the Gwangju-style kimchi and unique Kothai Sauce with the Korean food lovers that populate this beautiful island.
