I grew up in Waianae and never dreamed I'd one day become a farmer. I am a retired educator & administrator from the Leeward side. I have been farming for 12 years. I raise healthy chemical free citrus & other trees (Meyèrs lemons & limes, calamansi, mangos, papayas) in Maili. My mission in life is to educate people on the Leeward side & elsewhere about the value of Meyers Lemons & how when you squeeze them into your drinking water, it changes the water from acidic to alkaline. We all would benefit greatly from drinking alkaline water daily. Meyers lemons are also full of antioxidants which is another great benefit to our better health. Antioxidants are one of the most important things to our well being because they help to neutralize all the toxins & free radicals that bombard our bodies daily. If we don't have high levels of antioxidants in our bodies daily, the toxins & free radicals will eat at our DNA & cells possibly causing all the worst diseases.I tell people that I'm a make believe farmer because I really knew nothing about farming. I have learned that farmers are the hardest working people around. I learned that whatever we put into the ground or on our plants goes into our bodies when we eat the fruits therefore I chose to be pesticide/chemical free. It's a labor or love because I am out in my farm daily shooting my 100 plus citrus trees with pure water to chase away the ants & bugs. Of course the ants & bugs come back because I use no pesticides to kill them however the customer receives healthy chemical free fruits to eat. I sleep good at night knowing this.
