Sensei Farms is on a mission to improve human nutrition and preserve the environment by growing food indoors. Through smart engineering, data-driven technology, and plant science research, they are reimagining how to grow delicious and nutritious produce while minimizing the use of natural resources.
Sensei Farms' 2-acre flagship farm on the island of Lāna‘i consists of six solar-powered greenhouses with the capacity to grow over half a million pounds of food a year. They choose to grow indoors, hydroponically, because it is more sustainable than conventional farming and gives their plants the best chance of success. Currently, they produce up to 18x more leafy greens and 89% more tomatoes per square foot while using 34% less water than open-field lettuce and tomato farms, respectively.
Lāna‘i is no stranger to agriculture, and they are proud to carry on its agricultural legacy. Their mission is to cultivate a richer and healthier future for people, the planet, and Hawai‘i.
