About Kahua Ranch

Kahua Ranch, located on Kohala Mountain, on the Big Island.  The ranch spans 2,100 acres across six precipitation zones, from rainforests at 3,500 feet down to the ocean. The ranch is home to 400 Merino-based ewes, a flock with influences from Romney, Corriedale, Dorset, and Cooper breeds. These sheep, along with their cattle, are integral to grazing and land management, contributing to local meat production and wool manufacturing. Kahua Ranch was an early adopter of high-density, rapid rotational grazing methods, focusing on productivity while prioritizing environmental sustainability. This holistic approach enhances soil health, water retention, and species diversity, ensuring the land thrives while delivering exceptionally tender, high-quality beef and lamb.
