Tart, crunchy, sour fruit. The green, fruit is sour and crunchy, used in curries, chutneys, pickles, and other Southeast Asian dishes. Golden (mature and crunchy) has a pineapple-mango flavor, juicy, sweet, with a hint of tart, sour acidity. Tastes like sour 7-Up to me, if you can imagine that, and I wish someone would make it into an alcoholic beverage that takes advantage of this unique flavor! Makes a delicious applesauce-like pudding/butter/sauce when stewed with sugar and cinnamon.Spondias Dulcis
