Maitake mushrooms deliver a rich, woodsy flavor with a succulent, tender texture that transforms any dish. Cook them whole as a dramatic cluster or tear into smaller pieces for versatile recipe applications. Their distinctive frilly appearance earned them the nickname "Hen of the Woods."
Mushrooms are temperature sensitive and release spores when harvested which can grow into a thin white fuzz on the mushroom's surface. No need to panic, however, as what you are seeing is called mycelium and it is normal and absolutely edible.
