Although Dave Delventhal started Hawaiʻi's Special in 2005, he's been involved in food and agriculture almost his entire life. After graduating college, Dave spent the next 20 years commercial fishing all around the state before starting a farm on the North Shore of Oʻahu growing vegetables and salad mix at Pūpūkea Gardens.
Not only is Dave a champion of other small local food makers, but he happens to make the local popcorn as well. He starts with certified organic corn and produces small batches of his three wildly addictive flavors: ginseng, bee pollen, and spirulina.
