Hawaiian Krunch Company was inspired by a kalo journey. A kalo journey that took Chef Bonny and four other chefs from all four corners of the nation to visit and work with local Kalo farmers on the island of Oʻahu and Kauaʻi. The purpose of this journey was to encourage these chefs to create Kalo dishes that would excite the palate and introduce "kalo to the world" with hopes of helping to create a broader opportunity of export for local Kalo farmers so that they can continue to grow a sustainable production of one of Hawaiʻi's most important canoe crops. With that inspiration, Chef Bonny and her partner Tootsie created Hawaiian Krunch Company utilizing four of Hawaii's canoe crops. Kalo (Taro), 'Ulu (Breadfruit), 'Uala (Sweet potato), and Niu (Coconut). Over 80% of the ingredients used in our Hawaiian Krunch granola's are locally sourced across Hawaiʻi.
