Since 1928, the Sumida family has cultivated watercress on the Kalauao Springs, ensuring its purity meets Hawaiʻi's strict standards. Amidst Hawaiʻi's agricultural challenges, Sumida Farm's innovations, like an aerial sprinkler system developed in the late 1970s and a vacuum cooling chamber have safeguarded their crops and the local industry. Hosting educational trips for over three decades, Sumida Farm has bridged the gap between children and agriculture, while Kalauao Springs symbolizes the vital connection between land, water, and people, urging collective action for conservation. Today, the farm is owned and operated by Emi and Kyle Suzuki who are the 3rd generation of the Sumida family heritage to continue to sustain and produce their wonderful products for the community.
